Aqua Moto Racing 2 guide and tips: rule the waves

Aqua Moto Racing 2 is now available on Android, but it can be difficult to manage, at least at the beginning. Let yourself be guided to conquer the most difficult waves of the title.

There are two main modes in Aqua Moto Racing 2 : Career and Single Race. The tracks in this last one are unlocked when you have successfully completed them in the previous one.

The individual races, accessible through the crossed flags icon in the main menu, are what appear to be: individual races with no relation to your overall progress through the game. However, they can be useful for working towards results. It's much easier to focus on, for example, pulling out any acrobatics in a single race if you're not interested in winning.

You can see your results in the section marked with a gold riband in the main menu.

Career is where you will have to face most of your races, especially at the beginning, so we will focus on that. You can find it in the main menu behind the trophy icon.

Before you start competing, there are two ways to change control options. First of all, you can choose between touch and accelerometer controls. Secondly, you can choose between accelerating automatically and pressing a button to brake or vice versa.

Once you've chosen your favorite control style, you just have to run.

Each race consists of three laps. The route is marked with buoys, some of which have directional flags on them. Yellow means to go left, and red means to go right (do not worry if you're color blind – these buoys also have giant directional flags on them.)

If you pass one of these buoys on the wrong side, you'll get a penalty. If you receive three penalties, you are disqualified.

If you pass them to the right side, however, you will get some topping-up for your boost meter. The closer you get, the more you get. When your boost indicator is full, you can tap the blue icon at the bottom right to activate your boost. It is best to do it on a ladder or when going towards a ramp.

Around every track there are bags and crates full of money. Drive on these to collect them. You can also earn money to do acrobatics. More information on those soon.

Spend your money on the new water bike, which you can find behind the water bike icon in the main menu. Every water bike costs a certain amount of money and requires a certain degree. Assuming you have the degree, you can buy any water bike for which you have the money.

The water bike has a variety of statistics: top speed, acceleration, steering, stunt and turbo. These are not editable. You can choose a model suited to your style, but in general a more powerful water motion will be better regardless of its balance of attributes, so it makes sense to run with the most expensive in your garage.

During a race, every time you hit a ramp, you get a choice of acrobatics to perform. There are six in all: Indian Air, Cordova (both easy), No Hands, Tsunami (both middleweight), Backflip and Body Varial (both tough).

A difficult stunt is the one that takes more time in the air, so if you hit a ramp while you go slow or you find yourself in mid-air before remembering to pull a stand-in, it's better to go for easy. On the other hand, if you have enough time to attack, you can take out a combo, doing a stunt after another.

Bonus tips

Although overcoming the ramps and pulling out the stunts is a good way to earn money, it can actually slow down. If you feel flushed, or you're in a tight race, sometimes it's a good idea to leave the wide ramps and show your opponents while you're safely slipping in front

If you pass three directional buoys on the wrong side you will be disqualified. At first glance, this means that you should pass the directional buoys on the correct side. But another way to look at it is that you can cut a corner twice in every race, potentially giving you a huge advantage. Aqua Moto Racing 2 gives you a check. Use it wisely

If you have the rank for a new bright water bike but not the money, you can earn more by running individual races on tracks that you have already unlocked. The beauty of this approach is that you do not need to win because you have already won: you can devote your energy to collecting money. Heck, you do not even have to finish the race!
