Description

The Earthquake Network research project aims to create a smartphone-based earthquake early warning system that can detect earthquakes in real time and notify the public. Because of the accelerometer on each device, smartphones can detect earthquakes. When an earthquake is detected, those who have the app installed are notified immediately. Because earthquake waves travel at a finite pace (between 5 and 10 km/s), it is possible to warn people who have not yet been affected by the earthquake’s harmful waves.

The Earthquake Network app allows you to receive real-time earthquake alerts from the network, manually report an earthquake you felt, and talk with others during an earthquake emergency. When an earthquake is detected in real time near your location, the software may automatically send SMS and e-mails to a list of contacts, including your actual location in space. This is useful for rescuing without requiring the user to engage with the app. With only one click, you may also send an assistance request or say that you are ok. The app also displays data from national and worldwide seismic networks on earthquakes that have been detected.
